Faculty of Arts at TUKE and the European Art-Science Ecosystem

CategoryNews
Calendar10.08. 2026

The Faculty of Arts at TUKE has become a partner in the new project ATLAS+S – Advanced Technology, Learning, Art and Science for + with Society, which aims to develop a joint European master’s degree programme. The programme focuses on the intersections of art, science, technology and society. It brings together SciArt, STEAM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics), artistic research, mobility, and project-based learning in an international environment.

TUKE is represented in the project by a team from the Faculty of Arts led by Assoc. Prof. Richard Kitta, ArtD. For the Faculty of Arts at TUKE, ATLAS+S represents an important step in further developing areas such as creative digital media, innovative technologies, and interdisciplinary artistic practice. The ATLAS+S project envisages a joint study programme delivered across four partner universities: the University of Seville (Spain), Technical University of Košice (Slovakia), Polytechnic Institute of Porto (Portugal), and University of Arts Linz (Austria).

The project builds on the Faculty of Arts at TUKE’s previous international experience, including the exceptional EDASN – European Digital Art Science Network project (2014–2016), led by Ars Electronica in Linz (Austria). The main Slovak partner in EDASN was DIG (Digital Intervention Group) from Košice, with the Faculty of Arts at TUKE serving as an associated partner. ATLAS+S also provides an opportunity to strengthen the Faculty’s cooperation with TUKE’s technology and research ecosystem and with other partners, such as Technicom University Science Park and the creative platform MAO / Media Art Office.

For students and academic staff of the Faculty of Arts at TUKE, the project creates new opportunities for international mobility, collaborative artistic production and research, as well as the development of new partnerships. It will also enhance the visibility of the Technical University of Košice within the European artistic and research environment. At the same time, ATLAS+S opens up prospects for further joint projects and new trajectories in artistic research.
