Taiwanese Media Art and International Cooperation at FA TUKE
On October 8, 2026, the Atrium of the Faculty of Arts at the Technical University of Košice (FU TUKE) hosted a meeting with renowned Taiwanese artist Aka Chang, author of the light kinetic installation RING: KOSMOLOGIA, presented as part of the White Night 2026 festival (Biela noc). The event represented another step forward in the internationalisation of arts education and the development of the faculty’s collaboration with the international art scene.
The Artist Talk was opened by Richard Kitta, Dean of the Faculty of Arts at TUKE, and Zuzana Pacáková, Director of the White Night festival. They emphasized the importance of connecting the academic environment with contemporary artistic developments and professional practice. The event offered students, doctoral candidates, and educators an opportunity to gain deeper insight into the work of an established international artist, his artistic thinking, and creative methodologies.
The discussion focused on contemporary media art, light, movement, and space, as well as the possibilities of digital immersive environments. The event reaffirmed the value of the Artist Talk format as an integral component of internationalising studies at FU TUKE. As Dean Richard Kitta noted: “Direct encounters with established figures on the international art scene bring vital inspiration and opportunities that frequently evolve into further artistic, educational, or research collaborations.”
An important dimension of the event was the continuation of long-term cooperation between FU TUKE and the White Night festival, which connects students and faculty with professional art productions, curatorial teams, and an international context. This continuity is further demonstrated by the active involvement of the faculty's alumni and educators in this year's festival edition.
We would like to extend our thanks to Aka Chang, Richard Kitta, Zuzana Pacáková, and the White Night team for their collaboration, as well as to all students and faculty members for their active participation and engaging discussion. We look forward to future joint projects and new opportunities for artistic and educational practice at FU TUKE.
