Hidden Archives of V4 Artists
Messages
A new e-book titled Hidden Heritage: Visegrad Artists’ Estates and Archives has been released as part of the international project Hidden Visegrad Heritage: Artists’ Studios Online, led by the Arton Foundation (Poland). The publication offers a unique perspective on the often-overlooked world of private artistic archives in Central Europe, focusing on Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, and the Czech Republic.
The Faculty of Arts, Technical University of Košice (TUKE) acted as the expert partner for the Slovak part of the project, under the coordination of assoc. prof. Richard Kitta, ArtD. Researchers from TUKE, including Katarína Bajcurová, Gabriela Garlatyová, Richard Kitta, and Tomáš Marušiak, contributed original studies on the artistic legacies of figures such as Mária Bartuszová, Rudolf Sikora, and Milan Adamčiak.
This richly illustrated e-book brings together curators, scholars, and artists who explore the methodologies, challenges, and opportunities related to working with artists’ estates and private archives. The publication emphasizes their relevance for education, research, digitization, and broader public access. The e-book also compiles expert papers presented during the international online conference Hidden Visegrad Heritage: Artists’ Studios Online, held on 24 October 2024.
